Self-paidThe blogger paid for this visit themselves.
A private, restored hanok in the middle of Bukchon, run as a luxury hotel. It is very expensive, but it lets you have the quiet village to yourself after the day crowds are gone.

Is it for you?
Go forThe old wooden beams and rafters are kept, with a modern kitchen, bathrooms and lighting fitted in carefully between them. A big pine tree in the central courtyard shows through almost every window, and from the king bed it looks like a framed painting. Furniture, ceramics and tea sets are all carefully chosen. Best of all, Bukchon at night is empty, quiet and beautiful, with Namsan Tower in the distance.
Skip ifYou judge a stay by facilities. At about ₩1,000,000 a night there is no pool, jacuzzi, bathtub or lounge, and few soft places to sit, since most chairs are hard wood. Not for groups who want to drink and be loud: it is a real residential village and sound carries.
Good to know
Check in at the Welcome Center first, not at the house: 1, Bukchon-ro 8-gil, open 09:00 to 22:00. You get your key and a house guide there.
Check-in 15:00, check-out 11:00. Fits 4 guests, up to 6, with one king and one queen bed in two buildings.
This part of Bukchon is a Red Zone: tourists are not allowed from 17:00 to 10:00, but staying guests can walk the empty lanes at night.
Breakfast is served at a separate cafe about 6 min away on hilly lanes. Plan for this if you travel with parents.
Booking sites can charge far more on busy dates (the blogger saw up to ₩2,300,000). Compare with the official site.
Parking for 1 car. The kitchen has an induction stove, oven, coffee machine and pretty dishes, so takeout dinner in the house works well.
